FAB FRIDAYS, February 11, 2011 kicks-off Valentine's Weekend
What are your plans?
On the 2nd Friday in January, FAB Fridays had nearly 40 businesses along Fulton Street in Clinton Hill and Fort Greene participating in a roving party that included a fashion show, live music, spoken word performances plus menu and drink specials all along the way.
Looking forward to FAB Fridays February 11, 2011, here are a few of the events already lined up:
Mago Crepes
Drawing for free Valentine’s Day dinner. DJ with live drumming plus same-day discount and discount coupons for future purchases
Stem
"Meet the Artist" series continues with Chelsea Cardinal, Brooklyn illustrator and painter/ exhibiting artist. Share a glass of wine and purchase an illustrated Valentine’s card or handmade plaited necklace for your sweetheart

De Lux Gallery Hair Salon
Live performance of Stephanie Bok's “What Happened”. Does the story change according to who tells it? Come see WHAT HAPPENED and find out for yourself. An environmental performance piece - audience may wander in and out as 10 actors perform this enigmatic story which premiered at the DUMBO Arts Festival, September 2010. Written, directed and produced by Stephanie Bok.

Hawa Abdul loves this community because of its family-oriented nature, people, shops, and because the BAM cultural district is right here. She opened her cosmetics store with one guiding philosophy–that the make-up be fun, simple and easy. Hawa worked professionally as a make-up artist for 18 years for top Estee Lauder companies.
Says Hawa, “I discovered what women want on a regular basis, which made it easy to put my own line together.” In April, Hawa Cosmetics will celebrate its second anniversary.

“All About Beauty" complimentary make-overs from 6-7pm. Plus music, poetry reading, fashion, wine, hors d’oeuvres
So far, Hawa’s FAB Fridays offerings have included discounts on services and HAWA Cosmetic Academy’s make-up artist classes. An enthusiastic participant in FAB Fridays, Hawa says, “It is good for my shop and good for the Fulton area because it highlights stores and allows merchants to have a chance to network.”
She looks forward to working with other FAB merchants on future FAB Fridays. She envisions beauty and networking events with various promoters who connect her with new clientele.
