Frank’s Cocktail Lounge - 660 Fulton Street

Frank’s Cocktail Lounge on Fulton Street is named for its owner, Frank Perkins.  The lounge offers the community a great place to unwind after work or spend an evening socializing with our neighbors while enjoying the varied entertainment provided…and cocktails!

Recently, we spoke with Frank’s sons – Tyrone and Terry – who manage the bar with Frank.  Tyrone was happy to discuss the lounge, the history of Frank’s, as well as a little about the legendary Frank.

FAB: How long has your business been on Fulton Street? 

Tyrone Perkins:  We’ve been in business at this location since 1974.

FAB:  What made you select Fulton Street for your business?

Tyrone Perkins:  Actually, the business was begun by my Aunt and then my father, Frank Perkins, took over.  We moved locations, but remained on Fulton Street to continue to serve our clientele in this neighborhood. Today, it’s managed by my father, (Frank), my brother Terry and me.

FAB: What do you love about the area? 

Tyrone Perkins:  The diversity. Over the years, we’ve seen it change a few times and it is now changing again.  This diversity of the neighborhood is represented in Frank’s – we welcome everyone.

FAB:  What would you recommend to other businesses on Fulton Street to help them succeed? 

Tyrone Perkins: I don’t know if there is an exact recipe for that.  I would recommend that they do their homework and know the demographic of the neighborhood and how it relates to their specific business.

FAB:  How did you get started in your business?

Tyrone Perkins: It’s been a family business for over 50 years, so we just really continued it. 

FAB: What would you like the community to know about Frank, the person? 

Tyrone Perkins: Most people who’ve been in the neighborhood for a while do know Frank.  He’s part of the neighborhood and is pretty much the unofficial “mayor” of Ft. Greene. My dad’s a great guy – warm, funny, entertaining and welcoming.

FAB:  What would you like the community to know about Frank’s, the business?  

Tyrone Perkins:  We’re a very down- to- earth place where everyone feels welcome.  It’s a great place to end the day with great entertainment, friendly bartenders in an atmosphere that makes everyone feel at home.
