An initiative to transform this vast area of concrete into a new community open space, the Putnam Triangle Plaza in Clinton Hill has the support of community leaders, the surrounding businesses, residents, institutions, elected officials and received unanimous votes of support by Community Board 2.

It's all part of collaborative efforts to create more open and green space along Fulton Street's underutilized public spaces. The NYC Department of Transportation has been working with FAB And the community to make this project a reality.

In September, 2011 at the PUTNAM TRIANGLE look for:
  • Moveable tables and chairs, umbrellas for shade, benches, planters with foilage to provide more shade, and the opportunity for people to use a space in a way that works for you
  • Events and activities
  • New NYPD survellience cameras have been installed, and are monitored 24/7, so that will help with security
  • The NYC Departement of Transportation is also looking at enhancing the lighting of the area
  • The Department of Sanitation will be installing additional recycling containers
  • And, neighborhood groups are invited to make use of the space (it is part of their community)

BUS STOP IMPROVEMENTS
The MTA has already made an adjustment in the bus routes nearby as a result of separate inquiries by seniors and other residents asking "why can't the B25 and B26 come to the same place?". Now they can. No more guessing where to stand in the hopes of catching the next bus downtown - on Putnam... or on Fulton. With one bus stop moved just 1/2 block, the two bus lines now stop at the same place... giving commuters twice as many buses to take them downtown!
