Triangle-Shaped Spaces /
Tremendous Opportunities

Fulton Street cuts through Fort Greene and Clinton Hill at an angle, creating pockets of triangle-shaped spaces that are underutilized and present tremendous opportunities.

Putnam Triangle Plaza is the result of FAB’s efforts to enlist city agencies, local civic groups and leaders, businesses, residents, institutions and elected officials to create appealing open spaces for everyone to enjoy. This in turn brings people out to support the local merchants and ultimately helps to make the neighborhood livelier.

Putnam Triangle Plaza will feature movable tables and chairs, umbrellas for shade, benches, planters with foliage to provide more shade and other inviting features that provide opportunities for people to use the space in their own way.

In the coming weeks and months, new trees will be planted, a new bus shelter constructed and opportunities for public art projects will be explored. Also, the space is available as a venue for the community to hold events and activities.

Putnam Triangle Plaza has been a group effort, with the support of Council Member Letitia James, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT), with special thanks to the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS).
